stress management
this is a 7 week instructional program that provides an introduction, overview, and practice of stress management. each class is a blend of psycho educational and experimental sessions based on key mind-body principles such as mindfulness, self-awareness, and a conscious choice of one’s responses. using an innovative psychosomatic approach, the instructor will guide you to experience and cultivate a sense of deep physical and mental relaxation, decreased habitual/emotional reactivity, and greater self-awareness. you will also gain a better understanding of the psychophysiology of stress and will be equipped with different tools for stress reduction and self-regulation applicable in everyday life. these experimental exercises will emphasize on the power of your breath coordinated with movement, gentle starching, and your attention grounded in the present moment. ultimately, you will learn how to stay centered in the face of a challenge and to go back to a stillness within yourself– the state of inner peace and balance.
classes held on mondays at 7:30 p.m. & begin feb. 25, 2008.
